Donald Trump Blasts LaVar Ball: I Should Have Left LiAngelo in Jail!

DONALD TRUMP
Blasts LaVar Ball ...
I SHOULDA LEFT YOUR KID IN JAIL!

I SHOULDA LEFT YOUR KID IN JAIL
Donald Trump has a new enemy -- LaVar Ball.
POTUS is lashing back at the outspoken basketball dad after LaVar dissed Trump during an ESPN interview a few days ago. LaVar cast doubt on Trump's role in freeing his son from China after LiAngelo and 2 UCLA basketball teammates shoplifted.
Trump took to Twitter Sunday morning and said ... "Now that the three basketball players are out of China and saved from years in jail, LaVar Ball, the father of LiAngelo, is unaccepting of what I did for his son and that shoplifting is no big deal. I should have left them in jail!"

So far no word back from LaVar -- but we're sure it's only a matter of time.
As for LiAngelo and his 2 teammates ... all 3 thanked President Trump after returning to the United States last week.

Trump boasts of a higher IQ than Tillerson

Viralz Today - President Donald Trump, scorned by reports that Rex Tillerson called him a "moron" earlier this year, told Forbes in an interview released Tuesdaythat he has a higher IQ than his secretary of state.

The comment underscores the volatility between the two men after multiple reports that their relationship has frayed over the secretary of state's comment. Trump and Tillerson, along with Secretary of Defense James Mattis, will have lunch together at the White House on Tuesday afternoon.
"I think it's fake news, but if he did that, I guess we'll have to compare IQ tests," Trump said. "And I can tell you who is going to win."
Tuesday afternoon, White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said Trump's comment was simply a joke.
"The President certainly never implied that the secretary of state was not incredibly intelligent," she said. "He made a joke. Nothing more than that."
She added: "He has full confidence in the secretary of state."
Trump was aware before the report earlier this month that Tillerson had referred to him as a "moron" at the Pentagon this summer, a source familiar with the conversation told CNN, but it's unclear whether Trump discussed the remark with Tillerson. Trump was not present at the Pentagon meeting where the comment was made.
Trump and his administration have looked to discredit the initial NBC report, despite the fact that other outlets have since confirmed Tillerson made the comment.
"The @NBCNews story has just been totally refuted by Sec. Tillerson and @VP Pence. It is #FakeNews," Trump tweeted at the time. "They should issue an apology to AMERICA!"
Tillerson also made an in-person statement lauding his boss and his commitment to working for him, but sources have told CNN that the two men have an uneasy relationship that has recently been highlighted by the fact that Trump publicly tweeted that Tillerson was "wasting his time trying to negotiate" with North Korea.
The President doubled down on those comments in his interview with Forbes.
"He was wasting his time," Trump said. "I'm not undermining him. I think I'm actually strengthening authority."
Though the uneasy relationship continues, it is unlikely -- for now -- that Tillerson will leave, sources have told CNN, because the President and his top aides are aware of the perception that they are shedding top staff at an unnerving clip. Tom Price, Trump's first Health and Human Services secretary, resigned in late September over a private plane scandal and since becoming president, Trump has dismissed several top communication aides, a chief of staff and a chief strategist.
Trump has repeatedly stepped out onto the foreign stage since becoming president, but the forays have not been universally well received. Trump, who ran on the promise to put America first, has largely thrown out the foreign policy playbook of past administrations, and in his interview with Forbes, Trump said he is unlikely to fill the State Department with his own people.
"I'm generally not going to make a lot of the appointments that would normally be--because you don't need them," the President said. "I mean, you look at some of these agencies, how massive they are, and it's totally unnecessary."
He added: "They have hundreds of thousands of people."

Donald Trump challenges Rex Tillerson to IQ test amid reports Secretary of State called him a 'moron'

Viralz Today - Donald Trump has challenged Rex Tillerson to "compare IQ tests" if the Secretary of State did call him a "moron", as reported.

The president said he believed the reports were "fake news" but boasted he would win in a battle of wits with Mr Tillerson.
The pair's tense relationship burst into public view last week. An NBC News story claimed Vice President Mike Pence had to talk the secretary of state out of resigning this summer and that Mr Tillerson had described the president as a "moron."
In an interview with Forbes magazine, Mr Trump said: "I think it's fake news. But if he did that, I guess we'll have to compare IQ tests. And I can tell you who is going to win."
Mr Tillerson, who is scheduled to have lunch with Mr Trump and Defence Secretary Jim Mattis on Tuesday, held a special press conference last week to deny considering quitting. His spokeswoman insisted he had not used the language attributed to him.
Mr Trump also took to Twitter to deny the story last week, writing: "Rex Tillerson never threatened to resign. This is Fake News put out by @NBCNews. Low news and reporting standards. No verification from me."
But he was reportedly left "seething" after footage of him comforting victims of the Las Vegas massacre was overshadowed by the story.
MSNBC anchorwoman Stephanie Ruhle, who broke the story, was later quoted as saying: “My source didn’t just say he called him a moron. He said he called him an f***ing moron.”
Mr Tillerson was reported to have made the remarks during at meeting with national security officials at the Pentagon after Mr Trump's highly politicised speech - likened by some to a "drunk stepdad" - to the Boy Scouts of America in July.
The Secretary of State once led the Boy Scouts organisation and was said to be unhappy with the president's election victory boasts and political attacks in his address to an audience of thousands of children at the 2017 National Scout Jamboree.
In Thursday's press conference, however, he insisted the reports were "erroneous" and described Mr Trump as "smart".
Pressed of the alleged “moron” comment, the former Exxon chief executive described the story as "misreported... petty nonsense” meant to divide the Trump administration.
The president and his secretary of state have not always seen eye to eye. Earlier this month, Mr Trump said Mr Tillerson was "wasting his time trying to negotiate" with North Korea amid escalating fears of nuclear war.
"Save your energy Rex, we'll do what has to be done," he wrote on Twitter

Corker’s Blast at Trump Has Other Republicans Nodding in Agreement

Viralz Today - For nearly nine months, Senate Republicans have watched their new president with a mix of aggravation and alarm. But it took Senator Bob Corker to take those concerns public and confront President Trump with his most serious challenge from within his own party.

In unloading on Mr. Trump, Mr. Corker, a two-term senator from Tennessee, said in public what many of his Republican colleagues say in private — that the president is dangerously erratic and unstable, that he treats his high post like a television show and that he is reckless enough to stumble the country into a nuclear war.

Mr. Corker, chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, evidently feels liberated now that he has decided not to run for re-election, while other Republican senators with concerns keep quiet fearing the retaliation of a Twitter-armed president and his allies in the conservative media. But Mr. Corker’s passionate statements reflect growing troubles for a president attempting to govern with a narrow and increasingly disenchanted Republican majority.

The president has already seen what can happen with a 52-vote Senate caucus that can be thwarted by the defection of just three Republicans. Until now, Mr. Corker has not been one of the renegades on those high-drama votes that killed Mr. Trump’s health care legislation. By himself, Mr. Corker could make it that much harder for the president to hold a fragile majority on upcoming votes on taxes, among other priorities — and if he emboldens other Republican doubters, it could add to Mr. Trump’s challenge.

The White House spent Monday morning telling its allies that Mr. Corker is responsible for the fight, not Mr. Trump, and that the senator was an attention-seeking obstructionist. But few of Mr. Trump’s allies accepted that narrative. One close associate of the president, who asked not to be identified to discuss the situation more candidly, said Mr. Trump’s entire agenda could be dead because Mr. Corker has a lot of friends on Capitol Hill.

But that does not mean other Senate Republicans will rush to the microphones to second Mr. Corker’s sentiments. In an interview with The New York Times on Sunday, Mr. Corker responded to a series of Twitter attacks on him by Mr. Trump. He said that the president was running the White House like it was “a reality show” and with bellicose threats that could set the nation “on the path to World War III.” Mr. Corker added that “every single day at the White House, it’s a situation of trying to contain him.”

Other Republican lawmakers, while privately nodding their heads, remained conspicuously silent on Monday morning, and many Senate Republicans no doubt were relieved not to be in session this week in Washington, where they would be intercepted in the hallways of the Capitol by reporters asking them to comment on Mr. Corker’s remarks.

“While it may really bother other Senate Republicans and it’s unnerving that one of their own is being attacked, most aren’t retiring and know they must still work with the White House in order to accomplish legislative goals like tax reform or eventually answer to frustrated voters,” said Ron Bonjean, a former top aide to Senate Republican leaders.

Mr. Trump has grown frustrated by Senate Republicans as legislation to repeal President Barack Obama’s health care program has been repeatedly blocked, lashing out at Senator Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, the party leader, for not getting the job done. He has also engaged in open conflicts with Senators John McCain and Jeff Flake of Arizona, Lindsey O. Graham of South Carolina and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, among others.

Mr. Trump’s former chief strategist, Stephen K. Bannon, acting in what he says is the president’s interest, is organizing a rebellion against the Republican establishment and recruiting candidates to challenge incumbent senators in primaries next year. Vice President Mike Pence’s chief of staff has talked about a “purge” of Republicans who are not loyal to Mr. Trump.

For their part, Senate Republicans have pushed back on occasion. Almost unanimously, they and their counterparts in the House passed legislation over Mr. Trump’s objections mandating sanctions on Russia and limiting the president’s ability to lift them on his own.

They also stood against him when he engaged in a protracted public campaign against his own attorney general, Jeff Sessions, a former colleague of theirs in the Senate, warning him that if he fired Mr. Sessions they would not confirm a successor and acting to prevent him from using his recess appointment power to install a replacement without their consent.

“Guys like Bob Corker, I think, have reached the point where it’s like, ‘Can we not pretend the emperor is not naked? Can we not pretend the emperor is not unstable in a way that we should’ve understood very, very clearly more than a year or two years ago?’” Charlie Sykes, a former conservative talk show host and author of “How The Right Lost Its Mind,” he said.

As chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee, Mr. Corker could single-handedly block the confirmation of a new secretary of state should Mr. Trump push out his embattled chief diplomat, Rex W. Tillerson, and he could bottle up other appointments. He would presumably play a key role in any decision on whether to tear up the Iran nuclear deal. And as a longtime deficit hawk, he could also become a challenge for Mr. Trump as the president seeks to pass deep tax cuts that would add hundreds of billions of dollars to the national debt.

Mr. Corker’s public break with the president was a long time in coming. Mr. Trump considered Mr. Corker as a candidate for secretary of state after last year’s election but was said to have told associates that the 5-foot-7 senator was too short. Mr. Corker expressed concern shortly after the inauguration that Mr. Trump was a “wrecking ball” to American foreign policy but he largely tempered his criticism in hopes of helping to steer the nation’s first president to serve without any political or military background.

By last week, that hope was clearly gone. As Mr. Tillerson publicly denied he was considering resignation without denying that he had once called the president a “moron” — he let a spokeswoman deny it later — Mr. Corker volunteered that the secretary of state and two other officials were the only thing that “separate our country from chaos.”

Mr. Trump responded over the weekend by calling Mr. Corker "a negative voice” who “didn’t have the guts to run” for another term. Mr. Corker fired back on Twitter by saying “the White House has become an adult day care center” and “someone obviously missed their shift.” He followed up with the Times interview.

The White House complained that Mr. Corker had been “insulting,” as Kellyanne Conway, the president’s counselor, put it on Monday morning. “I find tweets like this to be incredibly irresponsible,” she told Fox News. “It adds to the insulting that the mainstream media and the president detractors — almost a year after this election they still can’t accept the election results. It adds to their ability and their cover to speak about the president of the United States in ways that no president should be talked about.”

Mr. Corker, who may have found the no-guts tweet insulting, has plenty of Republicans agreeing with his point of view. But the ones who have acknowledged that publicly are those like former Senator Trent Lott of Mississippi, the onetime Republican leader in the Senate, who when asked by Politico how Mr. Trump was doing replied, “Not great. Too many problems with disasters and Congress.”

Mr. Lott, of course, is not running again. “Do most senators have their doubts about the president?” asked John Feehery, a longtime Republican congressional aide now working as a lobbyist in Washington. “That’s probably true, but also largely irrelevant. He’s the president, and they have to find ways to get stuff done with him. Otherwise, they face the wrath of the voters — something Bob Corker no longer worries about.”

Trump goes rogue, even by his standards

Viralz Today - Even by the hyperactive standards of Donald Trump, it was a wild weekend.

While most of the country settled in for a Columbus Day holiday break, Trump orchestrated a cacophony of threats, offered dark warnings of military action and waged bitter political feuds on multiple fronts.
No one, not his estranged Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, his chief of staff John Kelly, European leaders, North Korean dictators, Democrats or despairing GOP senators can temper his shock and awe leadership style.
In a torrent of angry tweets, a TV interview with former GOP presidential candidate Mike Huckabee and a back-and-forth with reporters, Trump poked and jabbed, in another mind-scrambling chapter of a reality-show presidency that is threatening to exhaust the nation.
But there was a method in what his critics see as madness: The President is making clear that he and only he is writing his script.
As he amps up foreign-policy tensions and fights battles within his own administration and on Capitol Hill, Trump is effectively fighting for control of his own presidency, resisting aides and conventions that seek to hem him in.
The range of Trump's swirling political activity at the weekend was staggering.
He hinted at military action against North Korea, he slugged out a nasty row with GOP Sen. Bob Corker of Tennessee. He took another jab at Tillerson, saying he had a good relationship with the top diplomat -- who reportedly called him a "moron" -- but would like him to be "tougher." Trump even tried to ramp up the controversy over Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein and sexual harassment allegations by bringing up the issue in an encounter with reporters.
Trump also revived his base-pleasing culture war furor with the NFL after Vice President Mike Pence left a game in Indianapolis on his orders after several players took a knee during the national anthem to protest racial discrimination. He also found time to take a slap at NBC, accusing it of writing "fake news" over its Tillerson stories. He also complained that his own efforts in Puerto Rico were not getting enough credit, despite clear logistical problems in the hurricane relief effort.
"Nobody could have done what I've done for #PuertoRico with so little appreciation. So much work!" Trump tweeted on Sunday.
Then, setting the stage for another acrimonious week, his White House released principles for legislation protecting undocumented migrants brought to the US as children, outraging Democrats with a hard-line opening bid that included money for a border wall and a call for tough immigration enforcement.

A frenetic weekend likely to reverberate

The frenzy reflected the swirl of a presidency that seems to turn on whatever pops into Trump's mind at any given moment and is far from the ordered West Wing operation Kelly has been trying to establish.
At one point, Trump asked reporters on Saturday: "Do you ever rest?"
It was a question that might have been better directed at the President himself.
The frenetic weekend was consistent with the chaos that has raged around Trump ever since he took office and reflects his lifelong and compulsive hunger to make himself the center of attention at every possible opportunity.
But there is also something deeper going on.
There was a sense, in his encounters with the media and his tweets, that Trump was running free, relishing the chance to make everyone dance to his tune, signaling that he would run his presidency exactly as he likes.
His rebellious mood comes at a time when Trump's critics and even members of his own team are trying to rein him in.
His showdown with Tillerson erupted last week after the secretary of state revealed that US and North Korean officials were in contact through diplomatic channels, even as Trump threatens to rain nuclear war on Pyongyang.
Trump was quick to make clear who was in charge, humiliating his top diplomat by tweeting that he was "wasting his time" trying to talk to "Little Rocket Man."
In the coming days, Trump is likely to revive another foreign policy crisis with Iran by decertifying the nuclear deal that his predecessor agreed to with the Islamic Republic and international partners. The move will absolve him of the need to publicly state that Tehran is in compliance every 90 days. It will also contradict all available evidence that Iran is respecting the terms of the agreement and reject entreaties of European leaders and a public statement by Trump's Defense Secretary James Mattis that the US should keep faith with it.
The decision is sure to revive worries among Trump critics that the President has a habit of creating his own reality, when prevailing conditions do not reflect his view of the world and exacerbate splits in his own administration of foreign policy.
"We have two different foreign policies in this country right now, which is catastrophic for us," Connecticut Democratic Sen. Chris Murphy said on CNN's "State of the Union" on Sunday.
"We have one foreign policy that comes from the State Department and the Department of Defense. And then we have another foreign policy that comes from the President's Twitter feed."
Concerns about Trump's stability and intentions are already rising abroad, following his odd remark to reporters last week that a photo-op in which he was surrounded by generals was "the calm before the storm."

      Fighting with Corker

Back home, Trump is lashing out at Corker, who since his retirement announcement has savagely criticized his leadership and last week warned that people like Tillerson were saving the US from "chaos."
Trump piled onto Corker on Twitter Sunday, claiming he didn't have the "guts" to run for re-election. Corker jabbed back and said that the White House had become an "adult day care center" and someone had missed their shift.
In the culmination of an extraordinary back-and-forth, the Tennessee senator told The New York Times that Trump was treating his job like a "reality show" that could put the nation "on the path to World War III."
Trump's war with Corker is a classic example of how he positions himself in opposition to the GOP establishment to please supporters who hate Washington. It was the latest sign that the President may be ready to effectively run against his own party in the midterm elections. It also came as news broke that his former political guru Steve Bannon had expanded his list of incumbent Republican senators to attack in primary races.
The latest stunning developments came only days after CNN reported on Kelly's challenges as he tries to impose the kind of order on the White House that Trump trampled all weekend.
In many ways, Trump's bolt for independence is consistent with the character of a man who has had a lifetime of calling the shots, who in his hierarchical family business was the ultimate and uncompromising authority figure.
That model of leadership has been challenged during his time in Washington, a town where power is shared by constitutional fiat and where the President can't just get his way when he decides there is something he wants to do.
But it's also not clear that Trump's improvisational style is the path for long-term success. The possibility exists that Trump is painting himself into dangerous corners with his unrestrained approach.
His personal war of words with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un seems to leave no off-ramp for either the US or the North Koreans. Trump tweeted Saturday that "only one thing would work" to defuse the nuclear program, in an apparent reference to military action.
Trump, meanwhile, has yet to explain what will happen if Iran reacts to US attempts to renegotiate the nuclear deal, and impose new terror-related sanctions, by trying to break out toward the nuclear threshold.
And even his spat with Corker could turn out badly. Until the senator leaves town in late 2018, Trump will need his vote -- possibly to get tax reform, his last remaining hope for a major legislative achievement in his first year in the White House.

Donald Trump just used Mike Pence for a PR stunt

Viralz Today - On Saturday, Vice President Mike Pence was in Las Vegas honoring the victims of the largest mass shooting in modern American history.

Less than 24 hours later, he was in Indiana walking out of the Indianapolis Colts game against the San Francisco 49ers after several of the players failed to stand during the National Anthem.

"I left today's Colts game because @POTUS and I will not dignify any event that disrespects our soldiers, our Flag, or our National Anthem," Pence wrote on Twitter by way of explanation.
President Donald Trump, never one to cede to the spotlight, quickly took to Twitter to claim credit for Pence's walk-out. "I asked @VP Pence to leave stadium if any players kneeled, disrespecting our country. I am proud of him and @SecondLady Karen," tweeted Trump. He continued to inject himself into the moment Monday morning, tweeting that Pence received "great praise" for leaving the game.
According to CNN's Jim Acosta, Trump and Pence spoke before the game about what Pence would do if there was a protest. "They agreed if a protest took place he would leave," one White House official told Acosta of Pence. The pool reporters covering Pence were told to stay in the media van rather than enter the stadium because "there may be an early departure from the game."
Pence flew from Las Vegas to Indianapolis to go the game. (He went, according to his office, because longtime Colts great Peyton Manning was being honored.) Pence then jetted back to California.
Add up all that context and it's clear that Trump knew exactly what he was doing. Remember that Trump's formative experience before running for president was as a reality show star and producer. He helped start "The Apprentice" in 2004 with Mark Burnett and served as its face for more than a decade. He didn't just learn the lessons of what makes good reality TV -- he mainlined them.
Cliffhangers. Reversals of fortune. And, always, drama, drama, drama.
That's exactly the approach Trump has taken to the White House. He feuds! He fights! He tweets! And, always, he makes you watch.
Tennessee Republican Sen. Bob Corker, who has openly battled with Trump, told The New York Times that the President's approach in the White House is similar to a "reality show," adding that it's "like he's doing 'The Apprentice' or something."
The Pence protest is a perfect example of Trump as the puppet master of a giant reality show he's producing. Trump knew that Pence was headed to the Colts game. (The vice president's office said the trip had long been scheduled.) He believes strongly that the fight he picked with NFL players over whether or not to stand during the National Anthem is a good one for him -- and his political base. And so he directed Pence to stage the walkout and make sure everyone knew about it.
And, because Trump really does know how to create watchable TV, Pence's walkout became the story on Sunday. Every NFL post-game show talked about it and showed the picture of Pence (and his wife) standing during the anthem.
It was, without question, a victory for Trump TV.
Of course, being president or vice president is not the same thing as running or starring in a reality television show. Pence flew to Indianapolis on the taxpayer's dime to attend an event he was virtually certain he would be leaving in short order. Trump orchestrated it all -- even while also spending time in a Twitter spat with Corker and claiming that he wasn't getting enough credit for all his good work helping the people of Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria.
Is Trump aware that, unlike the fake consequences of reality TV, what he says and does -- and what he directs his vice president to say and do -- has very real impacts on the country? Maybe. Will that change his behavior? Almost certainly not.
Trump's entire life -- even before he found a medium like reality TV -- was about making sure every eye is on him. That people are talking about him -- no matter what they're saying -- amounts to a victory in Trump's eyes. In that way, he is the perfect president for our famous-for-being-famous celebrity culture. He is the political version of the Kardashians, always mindful of where the camera is, how to ramp up the drama and how to keep people watching -- even if they say they hate everyone involved.

Influential Republican Bob Corker Sounds ‘World War III’ Alarm on Trump

Viralz Today - Exactly one year ago, Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign was arguing that a Donald Trump presidency would endanger America’s national security — and possibly lead to war.
“I spent many years as a nuclear missile launch officer. If the president gave the order, we had to launch the missiles. That would be it,” went one Clinton TV ad. “I prayed that call would never come. Self-control may be all that keeps these missiles from firing… The thought of Donald Trump with nuclear weapons scares me to death. It should scare everyone.”
Raise your hand if you predicted, on the 262nd day of Trump's time in office, that a fellow Republican — who just happens to be chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee — would be making a similar argument.
“Senator Bob Corker, the Republican chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, charged in an interview on Sunday that President Trump was treating his office like ‘a reality show,’ with reckless threats toward other countries that could set the nation ‘on the path to World War III,’” the New York Times reported Sunday night.
More Corker: “‘Look, except for a few people, the vast majority of our caucus understands what we’re dealing with here,’ he said, adding that ‘of course they understand the volatility that we’re dealing with and the tremendous amount of work that it takes by people around him to keep him in the middle of the road.’”
And: “‘I don’t know why the president tweets out things that are not true,’ [Corker] said. ‘You know he does it, everyone knows he does it, but he does.’”
So in the past week, we’ve learned that fellow Republicans and members of Trump’s cabinet have 1) referred to the president as a “moron” (Secretary of State Rex Tillerson); 2) called the White House “an adult day care center”(Corker); and 3) stated that Trump’s threats could set the nation “on the path to World War III” (Corker again).
These back-to-back-to-back rebukes aren’t coming from Never-Trumpers inside the party; they’re coming from the chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and the sitting secretary of state. Add them up, and what these stunning criticisms do is diminish ANY credibility the Trump White House has on topics like North Korea, backing out of the Iran nuclear deal or simply saying things like “It’s the calm before the storm,” as Trump did last week.
Just this morning, Trump tweeted, “Our country has been unsuccessfully dealing with North Korea for 25 years, giving billions of dollars & getting nothing. Policy didn't work!”
Now reflect on that tweet after Corker’s interview with the New York Times.

Will any Republicans act on Corker’s criticism?

So now that Corker has sounded the “World War III” alarm, will any other Republicans act on the criticism? This could be the week’s most important political story.
But as NBC’s Frank Thorp reminds us, the Senate is out all week, so getting GOP reaction to Corker’s comments in DC will be harder. And NBC’s Alex Moe says that the U.S. House of Representatives doesn’t return to DC until late Tuesday.
Yet the question couldn’t be more important for Republicans: Whose side are you on here — the president’s or the chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee’s? And if Corker’s criticisms are legitimate, what are you going to do about it?

Still expecting a deal on DACA later this year? Don’t bet on it

“The Trump administration Sunday sent Congress a list of tough immigration reforms it would require to be included in any legislation that would allow immigrants brought into the United States illegally as children, known as Dreamers, to remain. The proposals include funding for a southern border wall and are likely to be rebuked by Democrats,” NBC’s Julia Ainsley and Hallie Jackson write.
“The status of nearly 800,000 Dreamers was called into question in September when President Donald Trump rescinded the Obama-era program that had protected them, known as DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals), giving Congress six months to enact the program into law. Trump has said he has a heart for DACA recipients and has told Democratic leaders that he would work with Congress to find a fix for the program.”
“But the policies outlined by the White House on Sunday night are likely to push Democrats away from the negotiating table.”
Indeed, Democrats Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi released this statement yesterday: “We told the President at our meeting that we were open to reasonable border security measures alongside the DREAM Act, but this list goes so far beyond what is reasonable. This proposal fails to represent any attempt at compromise. The list includes the wall, which was explicitly ruled out of the negotiations. If the President was serious about protecting the Dreamers, his staff has not made a good faith effort to do so.”

Pence walks out of NFL game

NBC’s Alex Johnson: Vice President Mike Pence “flew to Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis so he could watch a ceremony honoring Indianapolis Colts legend Peyton Manning. But he left the arena after about 12 members of the San Francisco 49ers knelt on one knee as the anthem played.”
But as NBC’s Peter Alexander adds, “A senior Pence official said the vice president's decision to walk out of an NFL game on when some players knelt during the National Anthem was planned ahead of time.
The same official also told reporters that Pence was ‘hopeful’ that all of the players would stand. But now, following his exit from Lucas Oil Stadium, the Vice President has poured more fuel on the fire.”
49ers safety Eric Reid, who began kneeling with Colin Kaepernick a year ago, said that Pence’s walkout was a “PR stunt” and what “systemic oppression looks like.”
“My honest reaction … Does anybody know the last time he’s been to a football game?” Reid said. “With that being said, he tweeted out a three-year old photo of him at a Colts game, so with the information I have, the last time he was at a Colts game was three years ago. So this looks like a PR stunt to me. He knew our team has had the most players protest.
He knew that we were probably going to do it again. This is what systemic oppression looks like. A man with power comes to the game, tweets a couple of things out and leaves the game with an attempt to thwart our efforts. Based on the information I have, that’s the assumption I’ve made.”

GOP’s Corker: Trump’s White House is an ‘adult day care center’

Viralz Today - As political food fights go, the back and forth between Donald Trump and Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) offers plenty of drama and entertainment. The key question, however, is what, if anything, happens in the wake of the rhetorical jabs.

Tensions between the two Republicans isn’t new, but conditions have escalated now that Corker has announced his retirement, freeing him from some constraints. Last week, for example, the GOP senator made the case that members of the president’s cabinet are helping prevent the world from slipping into Trump-imposed “chaos.”

Over the weekend, the president returned fire, saying Corker “begged” Trump for an endorsement, and decided to retire after Trump refused. The president added that the Tennessee Republican “didn’t have the guts” to seek another term.

On Twitter, Corker responded to the latest Trump tantrum by writing, “It’s a shame the White House has become an adult day care center. Someone obviously missed their shift this morning.” In an interview with the New York Times, the senator went quite a bit further.

Senator Bob Corker, the Republican chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, charged in an interview on Sunday that President Trump was treating his office like “a reality show,” with reckless threats toward other countries that could set the nation “on the path to World War III.”

In an extraordinary rebuke of a president of his own party, Mr. Corker said he was alarmed about a president who acts “like he’s doing ‘The Apprentice’ or something.”
“He concerns me,” Mr. Corker added. “He would have to concern anyone who cares about our nation.”

As for the president’s assertions that he refused to back Corker’s re-election, both the senator and sources close to him insisted to multiple  news  outlets that Trump offered an endorsement and even urged Corker to reconsider after the senator decided to retire.
“I don’t know why the president tweets out things that are not true,” Corker added. “You know he does it, everyone knows he does it, but he does.”

The senator went on to tell the Times that officials in the West Wing routinely have to protect Trump from his own misguided instincts. “I know for a fact that every single day at the White House, it’s a situation of trying to contain him,” Corker said.

By way of a rejoinder, Trump tweeted last night, “Bob Corker gave us the Iran Deal [and] that’s about it.” As is often the case, the president has no idea what he’s talking about: Corker, a conservative red-state Republican, opposed the international nuclear agreement with Iran.

On the surface, all of this certainly makes for excellent political theater. A Republican president and Republican chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee are going at it, in public, with increasingly toxic animosity. The clash of personalities is dramatic and extremely unusual.

But it’s what happens below the surface that actually matters. It seems plainly obvious that Corker believes Trump is unfit for the presidency, but what’s far less obvious is what the Tennessee Republican intends to do about it.

So far this year, Corker has voted with Trump nearly 90% of the time and has made little effort to use his Senate position to hold the president’s feet to the fire. The public rebukes of Trump are welcome and help advance the public’s understandings of Trump’s terrifying shortcomings – ideally, other GOP senators would be equally candid – but what else does Corker intend to do about his dissatisfaction with the man in the Oval Office?
The senator admits that he’s “concerned” about the president’s stability. I’ll be eager to see how those concerns manifest themselves between now and Corker’s retirement in 14 months.

Postscript: Corker added yesterday, in reference to Trump, “Look, except for a few people, the vast majority of our caucus understands what we’re dealing with here.” I’m glad, but the vast majority of Republican senators are also biting their tongues, which makes it easy to argue they’re complicit in the president’s dangerous antics.
